- Awareness Week from 18 to 24 Nov
Bhopal: AIIMS Bhopal is actively observing World Antibiotic Awareness Week from November 18 to 24 with a series of initiatives aimed at promoting the safe and responsible use of antibiotics. Antibiotics are life-saving medicines, but their misuse has led to a rapid rise in antibiotic resistance, which poses a significant global health threat. The World Health Organization marks this week every year to raise awareness among healthcare professionals and the public.
As part of the campaign, AIIMS Bhopal is organizing poster-making and quiz competitions, along with training and educational sessions for healthcare workers. To engage patients and their attendants, awareness programs such as nukkad nataks, interactive discussions, and small group sessions are also being held.
AIIMS Bhopal has played a key role in shaping the Madhya Pradesh State Action Plan for Containment of Antimicrobial Resistance (MPSAPCAR) and has contributed to drafting the state’s antibiotic policy. To commemorate the occasion, a national workshop will be conducted on November 24, featuring expert talks by Prof. Dr. Manish Soneja of AIIMS Delhi and Prof. Dr. Sumit Rai of AIIMS Mangalagiri on the latest advancements in antimicrobial resistance.
