- “Time is Brain” — Every minute matters in saving lives
On World Stroke Day, AIIMS Bhopal reaffirmed its commitment to providing world-class stroke care and spreading awareness about timely treatment through this year’s message — “Time is Brain.” Stroke remains a major cause of death and disability worldwide, but prompt diagnosis and treatment can save countless lives.
AIIMS Bhopal now offers 24/7 advanced stroke treatment, supported by state-of-the-art imaging and interventional radiology facilities. The institute provides Mechanical Thrombectomy, a minimally invasive procedure that removes clots from brain arteries, restoring blood flow and significantly reducing paralysis and complications.
With cutting-edge CT and MRI perfusion imaging, doctors can assess brain blood flow in real time and determine who can still benefit from thrombectomy, even beyond the traditional treatment window. The Multidisciplinary Stroke Team—comprising neurologists, interventional radiologists, neurosurgeons, and critical care experts—works around the clock to deliver rapid and effective care.
Executive Director Prof. (Dr.) Madhabananda Kar emphasized early symptom recognition using the “Think FAST” rule: Face drooping, Arm weakness, Speech difficulty, Time to act.
AIIMS Bhopal continues to set new benchmarks in stroke management, ensuring timely, life-saving care for all.
