AIIMS Bhopal conducts successful eye and skin donation

Bhopal: AIIMS Bhopal continues to make meaningful contributions to society through compassionate healthcare. Recently, a significant milestone was achieved as AIIMS Bhopal successfully conducted an eye and skin donation under the Hospital Corneal Retrieval Program (HCRP).

The donor, 54-year-old Uma Vishwaroop from Madhya Pradesh, selflessly donated both her eyes and skin after her passing. Her husband and nephew came forward with great resolve, stating they wanted her “to live on through someone’s eyes.” Their act of kindness has given the gift of vision and healing to those in desperate need.

The Department of Ophthalmology, committed to the cause of corneal transplantation, emphasized that restoring vision to two blind individuals is among the most profound legacies one can leave. The Head of the Department commended the eye bank team for their dedication and round-the-clock service.

A beacon of hope: Dr Singh

AIIMS ED Prof. (Dr.) Ajai Singh expressed heartfelt gratitude, calling the donation a “beacon of hope” for both the visually impaired and burn patients. He remarked that such acts exemplify how one life can illuminate many others.

AIIMS Bhopal has extended deep condolences and sincere thanks to Uma Vishwaroop’s family. Their generosity stands as an inspiration, encouraging more people to support eye and skin donation and embrace the spirit of giving even in the face of loss.
