AIIMS Bhopal: A beacon of hope for Divyangjan and trauma survivors

Bhopal: AIIMS Bhopal’s Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR) has emerged as a vital center for comprehensive rehabilitation care. It caters to persons with disabilities, trauma survivors, and patients who have lost limbs due to illness or accidents.

The department offers daily OPD services, a 26-bed IPD facility, and a modern operation theatre for rehabilitation surgeries. Specialized neuro-rehabilitation helps patients with paralysis, spinal injuries, brain trauma, and movement disorders. Pediatric rehabilitation services address conditions like cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, and meningomyelocele.

Patients benefit from post-amputation care, pain management, and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation. The department also features a cutting-edge orthotics and prosthetics workshop, along with physical therapy, occupational therapy, and vocational counseling.

Three dedicated clinics focus on post-stroke care, cerebral palsy, and diabetic neuropathic foot ulcers. Dr. Singh emphasized that the PMR department stands for “compassion, innovation, and empowerment” in restoring lives.
