New Delhi, July 8 (UNI) The new CEO (Chief Executive Officer) of Optus, an Australian telecommunications major, Stephen Rue, emphasized the AI’s role in transforming telecommunications. But he deliberately pointed to the fact that humans will remain a central part of the company.
Optus is a fully owned subsidiary of Singaporean telecommunications giant Singtel. It’s the second-largest Australian telecom company with a mobile network of up to 98.5% of the Australian population.
Stephen Rue joined Optus in November last year after six years of extensive experience at the National Broadband Network, or NBN. The appointment of Sue to the CEO’s position came after the simultaneous two hard years of the telecom industry, with a massive data breach and outages.
Reportedly, Optus’s previous CEO, Kelly Bayer Rosmarin, left the company two weeks after the outbreak of outages. Stephen Rue also joined the list of global conglomerates that are currently exploring the process of integrating AI or artificial intelligence into their business processes.
Stephen Rue pointed out that his focus since joining Optus has been on the company’s risk management and governance processes. He also focused on rebuilding trust in the Australian telecom community.
