- Farmers to achieve energy self-reliance through solar power
Bhopal: CM Mohan Yadav announced that in the coming eight days, various districts across the state will host fairs focused on advanced agricultural practices. Aimed at increasing farmers’ incomes, these fairs will highlight improved techniques, quality seeds, the latest equipment, and other resources, alongside information about government schemes for better management of agriculture and horticulture. Through a message to the media, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav urged farmers to take full advantage of the “KUSUM-C” scheme for operating solar pumps.
CM Dr. Yadav emphasized that farming today is impossible without electricity, and the state government is moving to make farmers self-reliant in energy production. Under the KUSUM-C scheme, the government will ensure widespread implementation so that farmers can generate their own electricity. Farmers are already receiving substantial assistance through electricity subsidies, which is a major support initiative by the government.
Assistance to farmers for installing solar pumps
The Chief Minister informed that assistance is being provided to farmers for installing solar pumps to operate agricultural equipment. Registrations for booking solar pumps require only 10% of the pump’s cost. Registrations have begun for solar pumps up to 3 horsepower in capacity. For pumps costing up to Rs 5 lakh, farmers need to pay just Rs 50,000, with the government guaranteeing the remaining Rs 4.5 lakh.
CM Dr. Yadav stated that the government aims to register around one lakh farmers under this scheme. Priority will be given to those who had registered earlier, followed by newly registered farmers. He asserted that through this initiative, farmers will achieve energy self-sufficiency and open new doors to prosperity. The state government remains fully committed to the welfare and progress of farmers.
