Aditya Rawal put in intense preparation for his role in ‘Daldal’

Mumbai, Feb 3 (UNI) Actor Aditya Rawal has spoken in detail about the intense preparation that went into shaping his character in the psychological crime thriller series “Daldal”, which has been receiving an encouraging response from viewers.

He essays the role of Sajid, a drug addict caught between devastation and helplessness. Aditya said that the audience’s ability to relate to his character’s inner struggle is what brings him the greatest joy.

He said, “The simplicity and depth of my performance stems from the fact that I had complete faith in my character. Without that faith, acting can seem artificial. I’m glad that this resonated with the audience.”

Aditya said that preparation taught him a lot, whether it was for his debut film, ‘Bamfaad’, or ‘Daldal’.

He learned how to use a bow and arrow, different accents, and understood religious texts, including about radicalization among youth and the Quran. He said he had many discussions with director Amrit Raj Gupta and co-actor Samara Tijori, and studied extensively.

Aditya said, “I did extensive research on drug addiction. How it affects the body and mind, what goes on in an addict’s mind, how their ego is shattered, how they feel insecure and try to hide that insecurity. Anger is also a part of it.”

Aditya watched documentaries, read books, and even visited the Freedom Center, a drug rehabilitation center outside Mumbai.

He said, “That was a very important experience. I went there several times, spoke to Brian, and asked him many questions about the script. Directors Amrit Raj Gupta and Suresh Triveni incorporated our findings into the story, making the character feel more authentic. Brian was also present on set during filming, especially during scenes involving drugs or withdrawal. Everything was verified, which further boosted my confidence.”

Based on Vish Dhamija’s book ‘Bhendi Bazaar’, “Daldal” also stars Bhumi Satish Pednekar and Samara Tijori in lead roles.

Helmed by Amrit Raj Gupta and produced by Vikram Malhotra and Suresh Triveni. “Daldal” is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
