- Bicycle thief arrested in Bajaria
Bhopal: The Bajaria police station in Bhopal has arrested a notorious thief involved in stealing children’s bicycles and selling them at cheap prices to fund his drug addiction. The accused, identified as 30-year-old Dinesh Kewat, is reportedly addicted to alcohol and hard drugs.
According to ACP Bittu Sharma, Kewat would conduct reconnaissance before committing thefts. He targeted areas without CCTV cameras and stole bicycles left in the courtyards of houses or outside schools late at night. The police have recovered 10 stolen bicycles based on the information provided by the accused.
Complaint was lodged by a child
The investigation began after a complaint was lodged by a child whose bicycle was stolen. CCTV footage from a camera installed near the scene helped the police identify Kewat. After tracking him down, poilice took him into custody for questioning.
During interrogation, Kewat confessed that he sold the stolen bicycles for Rs 200Rs 300 each to buy drugs. He admitted that his addiction drove him to commit repeated thefts across several neighborhoods. The police are now questioning those who purchased the stolen bicycles, and legal action will be taken against them for buying stolen property.
