- Memo urges swift confiscation following reports of historical ownership
Bhopal – A comprehensive 75-page memorandum has been submitted to the Collector of Bhopal, urging immediate action to confiscate enemy properties associated with the Bhopal State. The memorandum, submitted by Creations & Projections Dot Com Founder Amitabh Agnihotri, calls for decisive measures within 15 days, highlighting the need for resolution on properties linked to the Nawab family.
The Prime Minister’s Office has been involved, directing the Director of the Chief Minister’s Helpline on August 12 to expedite actions regarding the enemy properties. Earlier, on August 1, a letter from the President prompted the Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh to communicate with the Principal Secretary of the Revenue Department to address this pressing issue.
Inquiries have been made regarding whether the Collector’s Office has reached out to local Revenue Officers for reports on enemy properties declared and those still under consideration. Reports indicate that a halt on the purchase, sale, and transfer of Nawab Bhopal’s properties in 13 villages, including Borban and Halalpura, has been recommended.
According to former Chief Secretary Mala Shrivastava, only 1,395 acres of the Nawab’s land has been legally executed for personal ownership, leaving hundreds of acres, totaling 1984.13 acres, that should be confiscated. Specific properties, including those in Halalpura and Bhopal city, are identified as enemy properties linked to Hamidullah Khan and his family.
Despite previous reports suggesting these properties should be declared as enemy assets, questions remain about the lack of action over the past 23 years. The memorandum also references a 2025 letter from the Government of India recognizing these properties as enemy assets, emphasizing the need for accountability and action from local authorities.
