Melbourne, Oct 31 (UNI) India’s cricketer Abhishek Sharma has lauded the Indian women’s team for their thrilling semifinal victory over Australia in the ICC Women’s World Cup, calling their performance “genuinely motivating.”
Sharma said, “All of us were watching – each of us was glued to the screen in one place or another. We knew the total of 338 was a big one. But when Jemimah and Harmanpreet were batting, it never looked like India were under pressure. Watching women’s cricket like that is genuinely motivating.”
He also praised the team’s maturity and teamwork, adding, “We were following all the matches. Regarding the semifinal, I don’t think India have ever won a game like this before. The maturity and teamwork on display were outstanding – we are really proud of them.”
Sharma expressed confidence in the squad’s chances for the trophy, saying, “I think they deserve the trophy, especially after the way they played in the semifinal. They truly deserve it, and I am confident they will do well.”
India produced a stunning performance to defeat Australia, chasing down a massive 338-run target and booking a historic spot in the final.
