New Delhi, Nov 23 (UNI) The Aam Aadmi Party has raised strong objections against the construction of a 400-bed hospital in the residential area of Greater Kailash 1, framing it as a central issue for the upcoming Municipal Corporation of Delhi by-election.
During a campaign event for the party’s candidate, Eeshna Gupta, AAP’s Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj claimed that the hospital project began abruptly “the day AAP was not in government.” He alleged that the construction is illegal and is proceeding with the collusion of the current BJP-led administration in the civic body and the Delhi government.
Bharadwaj stated that the project is being built by occupying government land and bypassing standard procedures. He cited serious civic concerns, including inadequate water supply and the potential for severe traffic congestion that would make the area “impossible to live in.”
According to the AAP leader, the local Residents’ Welfare Association (RWA), opposed to the project, has been forced to seek legal recourse. He claimed that the government has remained silent for three months on questions posed by the court regarding the infrastructure and legality of the project.
Bharadwaj challenged the BJP’s local leadership, including CM Rekha Gupta, to file an affidavit in court declaring the hospital illegal before seeking votes from the community. He urged residents to demand clear answers from campaigning BJP leaders instead of accepting what he termed “vague guarantees.”
He also referenced Prime Minister Modi’s past support for New Delhi MP Bansuri Swaraj, suggesting that such guarantees have not translated into action for the residents of Greater Kailash.
