AAP alleges BJP targeting regional parties, cites Nitish Kumar’s Rajya Sabha move as latest example

New Delhi, Mar 5 (UNI) The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday said that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s move to the Rajya Sabha indicates the beginning of an alleged attempt by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to weaken the Janata Dal (United), claiming that the development reflects a broader pattern of the BJP targeting regional parties across the country.

Addressing the issue, AAP Delhi unit president Saurabh Bharadwaj alleged that the BJP first enters states with the support of regional allies and later weaken those parties from within to strengthen its own political base.

“Aisa koi saga nahin, jise BJP ne thaga nahin,” Bharadwaj said, adding that the BJP’s politics follows a pattern in which it initially presents itself as a junior partner to regional parties before gradually expanding its influence.

He claimed that several regional parties had faced similar situations in the past. According to Bharadwaj, the Indian National Lok Dal in Haryana, Shiromani Akali Dal in Punjab, Shiv Sena in Maharashtra and Biju Janata Dal in Odisha had all been weakened after their association with the BJP. He alleged that a similar situation is now unfolding in Bihar involving the Janata Dal (United).

Bharadwaj further said that regional parties made a political mistake by allowing the BJP to gain a foothold in their respective states. He also alleged that some regional parties earlier supported the BJP’s political narrative but are now facing consequences.
