AAP accuses BJP govt of neglecting Delhi amid severe air pollution

New Delhi, Nov 3 (UNI) The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led city government of “complete failure” in addressing the severe air pollution crisis in the national capital. AAP leaders claimed that while Delhi chokes, BJP ministers are preoccupied with the Bihar election campaign.

Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj said the alarming pollution levels have become life-threatening for children, citing that a citizens’ group, Warrior Moms, has written to the Health Minister about the issue. He questioned the absence of Delhi’s Health Minister, who he said has been campaigning in Bihar for several days during what he termed as a health emergency.

Senior AAP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said Delhi is facing a “public health emergency,” adding that “the truth is, it’s not Delhi’s air but the BJP’s mindset that has become toxic”. Chief Whip Sanjeev Jha accused the government of being “more poisonous than the air,” alleging that the Chief Minister and her ministers are busy creating social media reels instead of taking concrete action. He further claimed the government is manipulating Air Quality Index (AQI) data from monitoring stations.

AAP’s Chief Spokesperson, Priyanka Kakkar, directly addressed Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, asking if she had any plan for Delhi now that her campaigning in Bihar was concluded, beyond “blaming former CM Arvind Kejriwal.”

In its statement, the AAP alleged that this year’s air quality is the worst on record and accused the BJP government of destroying the capital. The party also criticized a recent government initiative for artificial rain, calling it a “gimmick” that wasted 34 crore rupees of public money without reducing pollution.
