AAP accuses BJP government of “stealing” public benefits, launches protest campaign

New Delhi, Aug 20 (UNI) The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) launched a campaign named ‘Chori ki Shikayat Dein’ (Register Complaints of Theft) today, leveling serious allegations against the BJP government in Delhi.

The party claims the government has failed to deliver on key promises, effectively “stealing” rights and benefits from the people.

At an event held at the AAP headquarters, Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj stated that the BJP first “stole votes” to win the Delhi Assembly election through alleged malpractice before moving on to “steal” public benefits. He cited specific unfulfilled promises, including a commitment to deposit 2,500 rupees monthly into women’s accounts and providing LPG cylinders for 500 rupees.

Bharadwaj claimed that not a single woman has received the promised funds, and free cylinders promised for festivals like Holi and Diwali have not been delivered.

The campaign saw women lining up to register symbolic complaints about the loss of these promised benefits as well as existing facilities they say have been curtailed, such as free medicines at Mohalla Clinics.

Bharadwaj also mentioned that a larger planned rollout of the campaign was scaled down to a symbolic event following an alleged physical attack on Chief Minister Rekha Gupta by an individual reportedly from Gujarat.

Adding to the criticism, AAP Delhi Women’s Wing President Sarika Chaudhary asserted that the BJP government had made budgetary provisions for women’s subsidy but failed to distribute it. She echoed the allegation of voter fraud, claiming thousands of votes were deleted or faked in the assembly elections.

Chaudhary announced that from tomorrow, women would take to the streets to protest and fight for what they called their stolen rights.

The BJP government has not yet issued a response to these specific allegations.
