Melbourne, Aug 16 (UNI) Bollywood star and filmmaker Aamir Khan inaugurated the 16th edition of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2025, gracing the occasion with a ceremonial hoisting of the Indian national flag to mark Independence Day.
The actor, who inaugurated the festival amidst thunderous applause, was specially invited on India’s Independence Day to grace the occasion. He hoisted the Indian flag at the festival, which was a proud and memorable moment.
The 16th edition of IFFM is set to showcase a spectacular festival of cinema, which will include film screenings, conversation sessions, special events and the traditional Independence Day flag hoisting. The festival will run from August 14 to August 24 and will honor the best films and digital shows released between June 15, 2024 and June 14, 2025.
On the cinematic front, Aamir Khan’s latest offering “Sitaare Zameen Par” continues to garner acclaim, emerging as one of the most cherished films of the year.
Along with Aamir Khan, 10 new actors debuted in this film, which brought freshness and emotions to the film, which the audience liked very much. After achieving great success in cinemas, Aamir Khan Productions informed that now this film is accessible to a wider audience through Aamir Khan Talkies (Janta Ka Theatre) on YouTube.
Directed by R.S. Prasanna, the film features Genelia Deshmukh in an important role. The film was released in theaters on June 20, 2025.
