Congress alleges corruption in Ramraja Lok Project in Orchha

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee media department president Mukesh Nayak has launched a sharp attack on the state government over alleged irregularities and corruption in the proposed “Ramraja Lok” Project at Orchha’s revered Ramraja Temple.

Nayak said the “Mahalok” projects, initiated during the tenure of former chief minister, were aimed at promoting religious and cultural tourism, but are now increasingly being viewed as conduits for corruption.

Highlighting the significance of the temple, he noted that Orchha’s Ramraja Temple is a unique centre of faith where Lord Ram is worshipped as a king and accorded daily state honours, attracting lakhs of devotees annually.

He alleged that the project, estimated at around Rs 339 crore across three phases, involves inflated procurement costs. Sandstone priced at approximately Rs 52 per square foot in the market is reportedly being purchased at Rs 335 per square foot, indicating a five- to six-fold increase.

Nayak further claimed that officials bypassed Public Works Department norms by creating a separate rate schedule, leading to alleged violations. Citing reports of illegal mining and past audit objections, he demanded an impartial high-level probe and strict action against those responsible.
