CBI arrests South Eastern Railway engineer in Rs 10,000 bribery case

New Delhi, March 17 (UNI) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today said that it has arrested a Junior Engineer (Electrical) posted at Bhojudih, Bokaro, under South Eastern Railway, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a man in exchange for providing an electrical connection at the site office of a private company.

The accused has been identified as Ravindra Kumar.

According to the CBI, a case was registered on Monday against the accused on allegations that he, while working as a site engineer at Bhojudih, Bokaro, had demanded an undue advantage of Rs 15,000 for providing the electrical connection.

The agency laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant.

Searches were ongoing at the office and residential premises of the accused public servant at the time of filing this report. The accused will be produced before the competent court.

Further investigation into the matter is underway.
