Bhopal: In a remarkable display of loyalty and courage, two stray dogs saved the life of a dumper driver during a tiger encounter in the early hours of March 15 near Anan Tara Hills, close to the CI Farm House at Kaliyasot Dam.

Dumper driver Karan Singh Sisodiya and his cleaner Kripal Singh had reached a farmer’s house around 2:30 am to unload sand. Shortly after stepping out of the vehicle, Sisodiya noticed two dogs suddenly rushing towards the headlights. In the beam of light, a tiger was seen standing just a few metres away, posing an immediate threat.

Sensing the danger, the dogs began barking aggressively and circling the tiger, attempting to drive it away. A brief but intense clash followed, during which one dog was killed while the other sustained grievous injuries. Sisodiya quickly reacted by sounding the dumper’s horn, which distracted the tiger and forced it to retreat into the nearby forest.

Farmhouse watchman Anil Dubey, an eyewitness, said the tiger had been spotted in the area on earlier occasions but had not attacked humans. The injured dog was taken for treatment the following morning.

Veterinarian Dr Sunil Tomariya confirmed that the animal suffered severe wounds, including significant loss of thigh tissue, and remains in a critical condition.

The incident underscores the extraordinary loyalty of dogs, often regarded as man’s most faithful companions.
