Siddharth Anand and Abhishek Bachchan join forces for a horror film

Mumbai, March 13 (UNI) With shooting for the upcoming action film “King” currently on, filmmaker Siddharth Anand and actor Abhishek Bachchan are already set to extend their collaboration with an untitled horror thriller.

The untitled project will be produced by Siddharth under his banner Marflix Pictures, while a close associate of the filmmaker is expected to take on the directorial responsibilities. The narrative is said to revolve around an emotionally resonant father-daughter relationship set against the eerie tapestry of traditional folklore.

Envisioned as a large-scale, VFX-heavy horror drama, the film aims to deliver a theatrical experience unlike most Indian films within that genre, reports Variety India.

For Abhishek, the project marks a significant departure, as he has not previously explored the horror genre.

Siddharth is planning to make this film within a more mainstream commercial space, bringing renewed theatrical attention to the horror genre, which in recent years has largely shifted toward horror-comedies. The film is expected to go on floors in September 2026.

Siddharth and Abhishek have shared a great rapport for years, with the actor even doing a cameo role in Siddharth’s debut film, “Salaam Namaste” (2005). Their relationship is believed to have only grown stronger during “King,” with this new horror project further strengthening their professional collaboration.

Last seen in “Kaalidhar Lapata” (2025), about a middle-aged man experiencing memory loss, Abhishek will next feature pitting against Shah Rukh Khan in Siddharth’s most anticipated film, “King.”

The action entertainer features a star-studded ensemble cast that includes Deepika Padukone, Suhana Khan, Rani Mukerji, Anil Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Jaideep Ahlawat, Raghav Juyal and Abhay Varma, among others. The film is slated to release in cinemas during the Christmas 2026 weekend.

Abhishek also has Riteish Deshmukh’s historical magnum opus, “Raja Shivaji,” scheduled to release in theatres on May 1, 2026.
