Police recover property worth over Rs 50 lakh, 14 arrested

Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh Police have intensified their crackdown on theft, robbery, chain snatching and other property-related crimes across the state, arresting 14 accused and recovering stolen property worth over Rs 50 lakh during operations carried out over the past two days.

According to officials, the accused were traced using technical evidence, CCTV footage analysis and information from informants.

In Jabalpur, police solved a house-breaking case in the Hanumantal police station area and arrested three accused. Gold jewellery weighing 11 tolas 8 grams and silver ornaments weighing 1.313 kg, collectively valued at about Rs 19.77 lakh, were seized from their possession.

In Neemuch, a joint team of the Cantt police and cyber cell arrested two inter-state chain snatchers who had snatched a gold chain from a woman in the Jawahar Nagar area. CCTV analysis of nearly 250 cameras helped identify the suspects, leading to the recovery of the stolen chain and the motorcycle used in the crime.

In Bhopal’s Ayodhya Nagar area, police busted a chain-snatching gang and arrested two accused. Seven gold chains, a scooter and a motorcycle used in the crimes were recovered, with the total value estimated at around Rs 17 lakh.

In Guna district, police solved a case of battery theft from a mobile tower in Bajranggarh and arrested six accused. A total of 64 stolen batteries and two auto-rickshaws used in the offence were seized, valued at about Rs 13 lakh.

Meanwhile, in Ujjain’s Neelganga police station area, a domestic worker was arrested for allegedly stealing a gold mangalsutra weighing about 15 grams from a house where she worked.

Police officials said the swift action sends a strong message against criminals and reaffirmed that efforts are ongoing to ensure quick detection of property crimes and maximum recovery of stolen goods.
