Nitish announces dairy push in Purnea

Purnea, March 12 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday announced that milk production committees will be formed in all 378 villages of Purnea district and Sudha milk outlets will be opened in all 230 panchayats to promote dairy development in the region.

Addressing a public meeting during his Samriddhi Yatra, Kumar said here that several development initiatives would be implemented in the district between 2025 and 2030 under the Saat Nischay-3 programme.

He said that 5.12 lakh women in the district have already been given Rs 10,000 each under the Chief Minister’s Women Employment Scheme to support their livelihoods. Women whose enterprises perform well will be eligible for additional financial assistance of up to Rs 2 lakh to expand their businesses.

Kumar said an industrial area will be established in Purnea to encourage new industries in the district. He added that under the dairy development initiative, milk production committees will be formed in all villages and Sudha milk sale centres will be opened in every panchayat.

The Chief Minister also announced plans to establish model schools and degree colleges in all 14 blocks of the district. He said all 14 community health centres will be upgraded into specialised hospitals, while the Purnea Sadar Hospital will be developed into a super-speciality hospital.

Kumar said the Saat Nischay-3 programme, formulated for the next five years, aims to double employment opportunities and increase the state’s per capita income twofold. Under the initiative “Samriddh Udyog, Sashakt Bihar”, he said the government will focus on promoting industries over the next five years. Industrial areas are being developed in all districts, and incentives such as free land and subsidies are being offered to attract large industries. Closed sugar mills will also be revived, he added.

Kumar said the government is also working to accelerate agricultural development and has established a new Bihar Marketing Promotion Corporation to strengthen agricultural marketing. He added that makhana production is also being promoted.

Highlighting other sectors, the Chief Minister said the government is placing special emphasis on dairy and fisheries. Under the programme “Unnat Shiksha, Ujjwal Bhavishya”, model schools and degree colleges will be opened in every block and an Education City will be developed in the state.

To improve healthcare services, district and block-level hospitals will be upgraded into specialised medical centres and incentives will be given for the establishment of reputed private hospitals.

Kumar said the government will also focus on strengthening infrastructure under the programme “Mazboot Aadhar, Aadhunik Vistar”, which includes urban development and the creation of new planned cities.

He announced that five new expressways will be constructed and rural roads will be widened to two-lane standards. Solar panels will be installed on the rooftops of all interested households, he added.

The Chief Minister said the government will promote tourism and eco-tourism, develop a Sports City in Patna, and provide government jobs to sportspersons.

He said Bihar has been progressing steadily and that development work will accelerate further over the next five years. With continued support from the Central Government, Bihar will move forward and emerge among the top developed states of the country, he added.

Kumar also highlighted several development works already carried out in Purnea since 2005.

He added that air travel services from Purnea have started and a Centre of Excellence for sports will be set up in the district. These initiatives, he said, will further accelerate development in the region.
