CBI Arrests Its Own Inspector in Bribery Case

New Delhi, Mar 11 (UNI) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday said it has arrested its own Inspector posted in Delhi in a bribery case.

The accused CBI Inspector has been identified as Deepak Phalsawal, who was posted in Delhi.

According to the CBI, the case was registered on allegations that the Inspector demanded a bribe from a private individual in return for not taking action on a complaint allegedly registered against him with the agency.

Searches were conducted at the residential premises of the accused, during which incriminating documents, including electronic gadgets, were seized.

The arrested accused was produced before the competent court, which granted the CBI two days of police remand for further interrogation.

Further investigation into the matter is underway.
