New Delhi, March 11 (UNI) The Crime Branch of Delhi Police on Wednesday said they have arrested two gang members of the Chhenu gang during a targeted operation. The accused were identified as Rashid alias Sonu and Faheem alias Danny.
A senior police officer said Rashid alias Sonu is a Bad Character (BC) of the Mayur Vihar police station area and is reportedly involved in more than 21 criminal cases.
According to the police, both accused were actively involved in several criminal activities, including culpable homicide, robbery, cases under the Arms Act, theft, house-breaking and snatching.
They were apprehended by the WR-I unit of the Crime Branch while they were allegedly roaming near Guru Gobind Singh Hospital in Raghubir Nagar in search of a target. At the time of their arrest, the accused were armed with deadly firearms.
During the operation, the police recovered two illegal pistols, five live cartridges and a Tata Punch car from their possession.
Police sources revealed that accused Rashid alias Sonu was also wanted in a major theft case registered at Vidhayak Puri police station in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
The case, registered under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, involves the theft of a large quantity of gold and silver jewellery along with ₹70 lakh in cash. Further investigation in the matter is underway.
