Tehran, Mar 10 (UNI/ SPUTNIK) Iran has launched missile strikes on the Harir base of the US-led coalition in Iraqi Kurdistan, the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said on Tuesday.
“The headquarters of the US aggressor army at the Harir base in Iraqi Kurdistan was shelled by five missiles from the IRGC ground forces,” the army was quoted as saying by the IRIB broadcaster.
The Iranian military gave no specific timing for the attack.
The Harir military base of the US-led international anti-terrorist coalition is located near Erbil International Airport in northern Iraq. It has faced repeated drone and missile strikes since the escalation around Iran began.
Iran has been striking Israeli territory and US military targets in the Middle East in response to the joint military operation launched by the United States and Israel on February 28. The first day of military action saw Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei assassinated and a girls’ school in southern Iran bombed. Iran puts the death toll at over 1,200.
