Delhi speaker calls for policy-driven governance at SRCC’s Minductor 14.0

New Delhi, March 9 (UNI) Delhi assembly speaker Vijender Gupta delivered a keynote address at ‘Minductor 14.0’ at Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) on Monday, urging young leaders to focus on policy-driven governance that improves the lives of ordinary citizens.

Returning to his alma mater as the Chief Guest at the event organised by the Human Resource Development Cell of SRCC, Gupta addressed students, faculty members and aspiring leaders, reflecting on his time at the institution while outlining his vision for leadership, governance and the role of youth in shaping India’s public policy landscape.

Highlighting the importance of effective governance, Gupta said the real measure of public leadership lies beyond debates and political discussions.

“The real test of governance lies beyond debate; it lies in whether our policies actually address the concerns of ordinary citizens and improve their daily lives,” he said.

In his keynote address, Gupta stressed that while differences of opinion are natural in a democracy, the ultimate benchmark of success is the tangible impact of policies and laws on the common citizen.

He noted that legislative bodies such as assemblies and parliaments exist to ensure that public issues are examined seriously and translated into meaningful policy outcomes.

Linking the discussion to India’s development goals, the Speaker said the vision of a “Viksit Bharat” goes beyond economic growth and depends on strong institutions and responsible governance.

“A Viksit Bharat is defined by institutions that function with integrity and laws that protect the dignity of every citizen”, he said.

Gupta also emphasised the role of dialogue and intellectual engagement in strengthening democratic institutions.

According to him, when diverse perspectives are debated with civility, public policy becomes more balanced and sustainable, enabling collective wisdom to shape governance.

Addressing students, the Speaker encouraged them to approach their future careers with a sense of responsibility towards society.

He said the journey toward a developed India by 2047 would depend on the ideas and leadership of the country’s young minds.

“The true purpose of public life is not politics for its own sake, but policy that serves people,” Gupta said, urging students to ensure that their ideas and ambitions are guided by intellectual honesty and a commitment to the larger good.

Gupta expressed confidence that if young leaders remain committed to ethical governance and public service, the vision of a developed India with purposeful governance and citizen-centric policies would steadily move closer to reality.
