Morocco appoints Mohamed Ouahbi as new head coach

Rabat, Mar 6 (UNI) Mohamed Ouahbi was named head coach of Morocco, replacing Walid Regragui, who has left the role less than 100 days before the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The Moroccan Football Federation announced the decision during a ceremony held Thursday night, in which federation president Fouzi Lekjaa paid tribute to the departing coach.

Ouahbi, who led Morocco to the FIFA U-20 World Cup title last year in Chile, will be assisted by Portugal’s Joao Sacramento, according to Xinhua.

“It’s not simply a change. Our objective is to ensure the continuous development of Moroccan football through a structured roadmap,” said Lekjaa.
