Mumbai, (UNI) The 2014 romantic comedy “Hasee Toh Phasee”, almost locked on Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Imran and Vidya Balan as the main cast, according to director Vinil Mathew.
Mathew told Variety India, “These are just the main names in between. But pretty much every actor, like Ranbir, Shahid, Ranveer, Ayushmann, Emraan Hashmi, every single actor you can think of, I had gone to. And for some reason or other, it did not quite work out. Eventually, it was Siddharth and Parineeti. Every film has its destiny. I guess when it is meant to happen, it happens. Otherwise, we keep trying. That is all.”
Although the film did not generate the level of immediate acclaim the team had initially anticipated upon its release, it gradually earned appreciation over the years. Through repeated television broadcasts and digital streaming platforms, it developed a loyal audience and gained renewed recognition among viewers.
Over time, Hasee Toh Phasee has come to be appreciated for its distinctive narrative tone and unconventional character portrayals, earning it a modest cult status within the landscape of contemporary Hindi romantic comedies.
“Hasee Toh Phasee” re-releases in theatres at PVR INOX on March 6.
