Aditya Roy Kapur to headline slasher comedy

Mumbai, Mar 5 (UNI) Bollywood Aditya Roy Kapur is set to join the yet-to-be-titled slasher comedy film.

Kapur is set to reunite with Dharma Productions for a unique genre venture, following his previous collaborations on “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani”, “OK Jaanu” and “Kalank”. Industry sources reveal that Kapur’s upcoming Dharma project is a slasher comedy that blends horror elements with satire, absurdity and dark humour, reports Variety India.

Plot details remain under wraps, but the film is expected to follow the conventions of the slasher subgenre while subverting them with a tongue-in-cheek approach. Expect a film that pokes fun at horror clichés while still delivering scares, with witty dialogue, campy performances and over-the-top gore.

The yet-untitled film will be helmed by Collin D’Cunha, who will make his feature directorial debut with the project.

D’Cunha has previously worked with Dharmatic Entertainment on two streaming series — “Call Me Bae”, featuring Ananya Panday and “Do You Wanna Partner?”, starring Tamannaah Bhatia and Dia Mirza. Pre-production on the film is currently underway, with casting for other significant roles in progress, while principal photography is expected to commence in May 2026.

The film also signals Dharma Productions’ continued experimentation with genre storytelling. The banner is already working on a creature comedy, “Naagzilla: Naag Lok Ke Pehla Kaand”, starring Kartik Aaryan.

The Aditya Roy Kapur project will mark the Karan Johar-led company’s third foray into the horror space, following earlier titles such as “Kaal” (2005) and “Bhoot – Part One: The Haunted Ship” (2020). The latter, starring Vicky Kaushal and Bhumi Pednekar, was initially planned as the first instalment of a franchise but did not receive a sequel after underperforming at the box office.
