New Delhi, March 4 (UNI) Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese extended Holi greetings on Wednesday, highlighting the festival’s significance for Australians of Hindu and South Asian heritage.
Taking to X, the Prime Minister said that for many Australians of Hindu and South Asian heritage, Holi is a time to come together in celebration of shared history, heritage and traditions.
He described Holi as a festival with timeless themes, including the triumph of good over evil, the enduring value of friendship and forgiveness, and the oneness of the human spirit. He said the festival offers an opportunity to renew ourselves and each other.
Albanese noted that Holi has been enthusiastically absorbed into the story of modern Australia, with its joyful expression of colour, love and new life embraced by people of all backgrounds as a highlight of the country’s festival calendar.
He said festivals like Holi remind Australians that the nation benefits from the beliefs, customs and experiences of people from every corner of the world, along with their aspiration, hard work and love of country. He added that Australians celebrate each other’s differences while coming together in their shared identity.
The Prime Minister expressed hope that this year’s Holi celebrations would nurture friendships and build communities so that, long after the ‘gulal’ has drifted away, the power of shared connections continues.
