New Delhi, Mar 2 (UNI) During February, captive and commercial coal mines recorded coal production of 20.40 million tonnes (MT), while dispatches reached 17.72 MT, an official statement said here on Monday.
Coal production witnessed a year-on-year (Y-o-Y) growth of 18.51 per crny which reflected strong operational momentum and progressive scaling up of mining activities.
For FY 2025-26 up to Feb, cumulative coal production from these mines registered a Y-o-Y growth of 11.58 per cent, while cumulative dispatches recorded a 6.78 per cent increase over the corresponding period last year, the Coal ministry release said.
The impressive performance of the Coal sector is attributed to strategic policy measures, rigorous monitoring, and sustained support to stakeholders. This also shows accelerated capacity augmentation and improved coordination across mining value chain.
