Pateari expresses concern over synthetic drug seizures in MP

Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee has raised serious concerns over repeated seizures of narcotics, particularly MD/MDMA (synthetic drugs), across the State, alleging the existence of an organised trafficking network targeting youth. State Congress president Jeetu Patwari said the recovery of 1,886 kg of chemicals allegedly used to manufacture MD drugs from a rented house in Mandsaur on 26 February 2026 was alarming and indicative of a deep-rooted production and supply chain.

He cited similar cases in Indore, Bhopal, Ujjain–Neemuch and the Gwalior–Chambal region, claiming interstate links and large-scale distribution. Mr Patwari accused the Bharatiya Janata Party government of failing to curb the menace and alleged political patronage to drug mafias. He demanded a time-bound high-level inquiry, immediate arrest of key masterminds, formation of a State Anti-Synthetic Drugs Task Force, and awareness and rehabilitation initiatives at school and college levels.
