Bhopal: On the ninth day of the Budget Session of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly, Leader of the Opposition Umang Singhar raised the issue of the coal block allotted to the Adani Group at Dhirouli in Singrauli district during Question Hour.

He stated that land from eight villages is being acquired for the project and, according to the Collector’s list, 12,998 families are affected. Singhar alleged that tribal families have not received full compensation and that serious irregularities have occurred in its distribution. He further claimed that compensation was paid to individuals from outside the affected villages, citing instances where over Rs 15 lakh and nearly Rs 14 lakh were allegedly disbursed to relatives of police officials.

Demanding the constitution of a Joint Parliamentary Committee for a fair inquiry, he urged that work on the coal block be halted until the investigation is completed and due compensation ensured. Congress MLAs staged a walkout after their demand was not accepted.
