Bhopal: Police have intensified action against illegal online betting across the state, seizing cash and assets worth nearly Rs 13.98 lakh in separate cases in Gwalior and Katni districts. Investigations have also uncovered financial transactions amounting to approximately Rs 3.29 crore linked to online cricket betting networks.
In Gwalior, the Crime Branch raided a house in Adarsh Colony, Pinto Park under Maharajpura police station limits following a tip-off. Three individuals were arrested while operating online betting activities through mobile phones and laptops. Digital evidence, including active betting IDs, transaction data, UPI QR codes, bank account details and WhatsApp-based instructions, was recovered. The accused allegedly lured people to invest in gaming applications with promises of winnings, routing funds through mule bank accounts to evade detection. Police seized Rs 4.49 lakh in cash, three laptops, ten mobile phones, ATM and SIM cards, and other materials worth Rs 8.69 lakh.
In Katni’s Madhavnagar area, three more accused were arrested for operating fraudulent bank accounts to facilitate illegal betting transactions. Cash worth Rs 5.52 lakh and banking instruments were seized. Further investigation is under way as Madhya Pradesh Police maintains a zero-tolerance stance against cyber-enabled financial crimes.
