New Delhi, Feb 25 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday departed on a two-day State Visit to Israel at the invitation of his Israeli counterpart, Benjamin Netanyahu.
The trip is aimed at further deepening the India-Israel Strategic Partnership, an official communique said.
In his departure statement issued here, the Prime Minister said India and Israel share a “robust and multifaceted Strategic Partnership” that has witnessed remarkable growth and dynamism in recent years.
He said he looked forward to holding discussions with Prime Minister Netanyahu to strengthen cooperation across a wide spectrum of areas, including science and technology, innovation, agriculture, water management, defence and security, trade and investment, and people-to-people ties.
The two leaders are also expected to exchange views on key regional and global issues of mutual interest.
During the visit, the Prime Minister will also meet Israel’s President, Isaac Herzog.
In a significant highlight of the visit, Modi will become the first Indian Prime Minister to address the Knesset, Israel’s Parliament. The Prime Minister described the occasion as a tribute to the strong parliamentary and democratic ties between the two countries.
He also expressed eagerness to interact with members of the Indian diaspora in Israel, noting their role in nurturing the special friendship between the two nations.
The Prime Minister said he was confident that the visit would further consolidate bilateral ties, set new goals for the Strategic Partnership, and advance a shared vision for a resilient, innovative and prosperous future.
