Agartala, Feb 24 (UNI) After almost two months of suspension, visa and consular services for Bangladesh from Tripura have resumed at the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala, providing relief and excitement to numerous applicants.
From early this morning, a long queue was found outside the mission in Agartala as eager travellers sought to submit new applications. Visa applications are generally accepted from up to 12:00 pm, but the significant turnout resulted in many applicants being unable to submit their forms within the designated hours yesterday.
The renewed chance to travel to Bangladesh has generated widespread enthusiasm, particularly among those with familial connections across the border.
The services had been halted since December 23, 2025, following an official notice issued by the mission’s authorities in response to anti-Indian slogans in Bangladesh.
Soon after the Tarique Rahman government took over, the Agartala-Kolkata direct bus service via Dhaka was reintroduced, and a trial run has been underway for the past three days.
According to the report, the commercial bus service on the route is likely to begin on Feb 28.
