Police rescue 227 cattle in statewide crackdown

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Police has intensified its statewide drive against illegal cattle smuggling and animal cruelty, rescuing 227 cattle and other livestock over the past ten days. Acting through coordinated field operations, technical surveillance and inter-district intelligence sharing, police have seized trucks, containers and pick-up vehicles used in unlawful transport and registered cases under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and other relevant provisions.

In Panna district, Devendranagar police freed 32 cattle and confiscated a container valued at approximately Rs 25 lakh. Majhgawan police rescued 71 buffaloes and seized two trucks worth around Rs 40 lakh, while Madla police recovered eight animals and a pick-up vehicle. In Sidhi, Majhauli police intercepted a truck during night patrol and rescued 53 buffaloes.

Similar action was reported from Dindori, Seoni, Khargone, Guna, Chhindwara and Ujjain districts, where multiple accused were arrested and vehicles impounded. Officials reiterated a zero-tolerance policy towards animal smuggling, affirming that strict legal action would continue against offenders.
