Bhopal: Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge are scheduled to visit Bhopal on Tuesday afternoon, in a move party leaders say will energise workers across Madhya Pradesh.
According to party sources, the senior leaders will interact with state office-bearers and grassroots cadre during their visit. A large gathering of farmers is expected at Atal Path, Jawahar Chowk, where Gandhi is slated to address a public meeting highlighting agrarian concerns.
Gandhi will arrive in the city by chartered aircraft at Raja Bhoj Airport at around 1.00 pm and is expected to reach the rally venue by 1.50 pm. Sources indicated that his speech will focus on the proposed Indo–US trade policy, which the Congress has criticised as detrimental to farmers’ interests.
Following meetings with various party representatives, the leaders are scheduled to depart for New Delhi at approximately 5.30 pm, concluding their brief but politically significant visit to the state capital.
