Mamata turning West Bengal into Bangladesh: BJP MP from WB

Lucknow, Feb 23 (UNI) BJP Lok Sabha member from Ranaghat in West Bengal Jagannath Sarkar has targeted Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, saying her Trinamool Congress government has been a failure in the state, and that the people now need a government that promotes development.

He also accused Mamata Banerjee of helping Rohingya and Bangladeshi citizens to obtain Indian citizenship and turning West Bengal into Bangladesh.

He also criticized the West Bengal government for not taking strict action against infiltrators from Bangladesh.

Talking to media here on Sunday, the BJP MP said correcting the SIR voter list is a normal process of the Election Commission, but Mamata Banerjee opposed it because “she wants to keep infiltrators as voters”.

Referring to the riots in Murshidabad and Malda, he said corruption and hooliganism are rampant in West Bengal. “Life for the common man has become difficult,” he said blaming the West Bengal government for the situation.

Sarkar’s visit to Lucknow was a part of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ campaign. The MP participated in an outreach programme with the Bengali community living in the state capital.

The Bengali community living in various states of India is being urged to reach West Bengal for the upcoming assembly elections. According to the MP, those who have the right to vote should vote, and those who do not have the right, should inform the public about the situation of the West Bengal government through their relatives and acquaintances.

The BJP MP said he would intensify the campaign to unite the Bengali community by visiting Goa, Uttar Pradesh, and other states.

Sarkar said Bengal has always been known worldwide for its cultural heritage. Bengalis have gained global recognition due to their intelligence. “Today, the same Bengalis are being defeated in their own state, and members of Islamic groups are dominating the natives of Bengal,” he said.

He cited the names of several eminent men and said that the identity of West Bengal was in danger. “The community, not only in the country but also abroad, needs to unite,” he added.
