GIFT Nifty sets record with USD 23.48 bln single-day turnover

New Delhi, Feb 22 (UNI) GIFT Nifty recorded its highest-ever single-day turnover of USD 23.48 billion (approximately Rs 2,13,587 crore equivalent) on February 20, 2026, an official statement said here on Sunday.

The benchmark contract registered 457,989 contracts during the trading session, surpassing its previous single-day turnover record of USD 22.88 billion achieved on January 23, 2024.

The release said trading turnover on NSE International Exchange (NSEIX) has been growing steadily since the commencement of full-scale operations of GIFT Nifty on July 3, 2023. Since its launch in full-scale mode, GIFT Nifty has recorded a cumulative trading volume of over 60.05 million contracts with a total cumulative turnover of USD 2.76 trillion.

The exchange expressed satisfaction over the milestone and thanked market participants for their continued support in making GIFT Nifty a successful contract.

NSEIX, set up at GIFT City on June 5, 2017, is an international multi-asset exchange recognized by the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA). The exchange holds a market share of over 99.6 per cent in GIFT IFSC.

NSEIX offers a range of products including Indian single stock derivatives, index derivatives, currency derivatives, depository receipts and global stocks. It also provides primary market products such as listing of equity shares, SPACs, REITs, InvITs, depository receipts, debt securities and ESG debt securities under the IFSCA (Listing) Regulations, 2024.

The release further noted that NSEIX and GIFT Nifty have received part 30 exemption from the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) under Regulation 30.10 and class relief from the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) under relevant provisions of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, enabling US customers to participate in derivative contracts listed on NSEIX.
