Washington, Feb 22 (UNI) Nick Jonas is heading back to the jungle. The singer-actor has rejoined the cast of the upcoming ‘Jumanji’ sequel, confirming that he will reprise his role as Jefferson “Seaplane” McDonough in the next chapter of the blockbuster franchise.
The film is currently scheduled for a global theatrical release on December 11, 2026.
Jonas shared the news with fans through an Instagram Reel, announcing his return to the action-adventure series. “We are so back. Jumanji round 3,” he captioned the post, expressing his excitement about stepping back into the role of the daring pilot avatar. His wife, actor Priyanka Chopra, reacted in the comments, writing, “Let’s go.”
The new film, tentatively referred to as ‘Jumanji 3’ and considered the fourth installment in the franchise overall, began production in Los Angeles in November 2025 and is currently being filmed.
Jonas first appeared as Seaplane in the franchise’s revival and has since become a key part of its ensemble cast. He reunites with returning co-stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart and Karen Gillan.
Earlier this week, Johnson shared an update from the set, revealing that Danny DeVito had wrapped his portions of the shoot. In a February 17, 2026 post, Johnson paid tribute to the veteran actor as production continued.
Jonas’ return to Jumanji comes amid a busy year for the musician. On February 6, he released his fifth solo studio album, Sunday Best. The 37-minute record has been described as his most personal and introspective work so far.
The album reflects his life as a husband to Priyanka Chopra and a father to their daughter, Malti. Its themes center on family, love, faith and his two-decade journey living with Type 1 diabetes. Notably, the cover art features his Dexcom G7 glucose monitor, symbolizing openness about his health.
Musically, Sunday Best marks a shift from his earlier pop-driven sound, leaning instead toward a more organic, stripped-down style built around acoustic guitars, piano, chooral elements and a string quartet.
With filming underway and his music career hitting a reflective high note, 2026 is shaping up to be a landmark year for Jonas, both in the jungle and beyond.
