Mumbai, Feb 22 (UNI) Comedian-actor Kail Sharma, along with the announcement of Season 5 for ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’, also unveiled his future plans to headline a yet-to-be-titled web series.
This move will further deepen the relationship between him and the streaming giant Netflix, confirms Variety India.
Details of the project are currently being kept hush-hush, but sources say it’s a comedy series and will go on floors next month outside India. Further strengthening the collaboration, Netflix has also acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights to Sharma’s upcoming family-comedy feature film, “Daadi Ki Shaadi.” Neetu Singh, Riddhima Kapoor, and Saida Khateeb also star in this Ashish R. Mohan directorial venture revolving around a lively family navigating the chaos and joy following their matriarch’s decision to remarry.
Over the years, Sharma has transitioned from being a television sensation to a prominent figure in India’s comedy circuit, with appearances in films such as “Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon”, “Firangi”, “Zwigato” and “Crew”. His recent film “Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2” did not perform well commercially, but his popularity on streaming platforms remains steady.
The ongoing success of ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’, featuring guests such as Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Kartik Aaryan, Shahid Kapoor, and Madhuri Dixit, further reinforces his stature as a mainstream entertainer.
