New Delhi, Feb 22 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi today reaffirmed India’s strong and “enduring friendship” with Israel, expressing appreciation for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and underscoring the depth and diversity of bilateral relations between the two countries.
In a post on X, Modi thanked his Israeli counterpart and emphasised the strength of the partnership. “Thank you, my friend, Prime Minister Netanyahu,” Modi wrote. “I fully agree with you on the bond between India and Israel as well as the diverse nature of our bilateral relations.”
Highlighting the foundation of the relationship, the Prime Minister said, “India deeply values the enduring friendship with Israel, built on trust, innovation and a shared commitment to peace and progress.”
Modi also said he was looking forward to discussions during his upcoming visit to Israel, signalling continued high-level engagement between the two nations.
India and Israel established full diplomatic relations in 1992, and ties have steadily expanded across defence, agriculture, water management, science and technology, and trade. In recent years, cooperation in areas such as cybersecurity, innovation and start-up ecosystems has gained momentum, reflecting what leaders from both sides have described as a future-oriented partnership.
Defence cooperation remains a key pillar of the relationship, with Israel among India’s important defence partners. At the same time, people-to-people exchanges, academic collaboration, and joint research initiatives have broadened the scope of engagement.
PM Modi’s forthcoming visit is expected to review ongoing cooperation and explore new avenues in technology, trade, and regional connectivity. Analysts say the visit comes at a time when both countries are seeking to strengthen economic resilience and innovation-driven growth.
Over the years, Modi and Netanyahu have publicly described each other as close partners and their interactions have reflected what officials characterize as a “strategic partnership” anchored in mutual respect and shared democratic values.
With Modi’s visit on the horizon, diplomatic observers expect further consolidation of ties between New Delhi and Jerusalem, reinforcing what both leaders describe as a bond rooted in trust and common aspirations for peace and development.
