New Delhi, Feb 20 (UNI) Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has sharply criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party over the ongoing AI Impact Summit, calling it an embarrassment for the Indian government.
In a post shared on his official WhatsApp channel on Friday, Yadav wrote, “All the world’s criticism came pouring in! Now BJP supporters will make excuses, claiming this was their ‘masterstroke,’ where they supposedly showed the world that in India, traffic jams, haphazard parking, lack of public facilities and safety, theft, poor air quality, and mismanagement are endless problems—and that AI technology could potentially address them.”
He added, “In reality, the BJP government gained nothing from the AI Impact Summit except for one lesson: ‘Until proper arrangements are made, don’t try to show off or imitate others.'”
The remarks come in the wake of widespread international attention on India’s AI initiatives, where global experts reportedly highlighted shortcomings in infrastructure, urban planning, and public safety—issues that have long been criticized by opposition parties.
Political analysts say Yadav’s comments are likely aimed at drawing attention to the gap between government claims about technological progress and the on-ground realities of public services.
