New Delhi, Feb 20 (UNI) Marking one year of the BJP-led government in Delhi, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday addressed a press conference at the Delhi Secretariat along with her Cabinet colleagues and presented the government’s one-year report card.
Rekha Gupta said “On February 20, 2025, the government had assumed office at the Secretariat, and therefore chose the same venue to present its performance report.”
“This report card reflects our hard work. We have taken Delhi towards development instead of making excuses. We have changed the work culture of Delhi. The previous government believed in making noise, our government believes in working. We are doing politics of ‘we’ and not ‘I’,” she said.
During the press conference, the Chief Minister and ministers showcased a video highlighting key achievements in health, Yamuna cleaning, investment, education and overall transformation of the city over the past 365 days.
Chief Minister Gupta said the government worked every day to take Delhi one step forward.
She said the decision to implement the Ayushman scheme was taken in the first Cabinet meeting and over 30,000 people have benefited from it so far. For the development of slum areas, the government allocated a budget of Rs 700 crore.
The Chief Minister said the promise of providing houses to slum dwellers is being fulfilled. Old flats are being redeveloped into modern housing units, and in the first phase, 13,000 flats will be handed over to beneficiaries.
She added that Delhi is providing the highest minimum wages to workers. Around 500 crèche centres have been opened for the children of women workers.
“On infrastructure, the government laid 180 kilometres of new sewer lines, while tenders have been issued for another 144 kilometres. The 105 MGD Chandrawal water treatment plant is expected to be completed this year, benefiting 10 Assembly constituencies.” Gupta said.
In the health sector, she stated that modern machines have been installed in government hospitals. The government has introduced new systems to curb corruption in public hospitals. Work has also begun to establish an Ayush Society in Delhi, and a campaign to promote organ donation has been launched. Large-scale recruitment of paramedical staff has also been carried out.
Calling her administration a “government of performance, not publicity,” the Chief Minister said steps have been taken to regulate private school fees. Work has started on building 7,000 smart classrooms and 75 ‘Shri Schools’ across the city. Three new courses have also been introduced in schools to help students become responsible citizens.
Gupta also claimed to have taken concrete steps towards cleaning the Yamuna, addressing garbage mountains and tackling pollution in the national capital.
