World Bank to allocate $60Mln to Tajikistan for Electricity Market Development – Ministry

Dushanbe, Feb 18 (SPUTNIK/UNI) – The World Bank will allocate $60 million to Tajikistan as part of its program to develop the electricity market and integrate Central Asia, the Tajik Finance Ministry said. “The agreement on the project providing for $60 million in financing, was signed in Dushanbe. The project is aimed at developing energy in Central Asian countries,” the ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.

The document was signed by Tajik Finance Minister Faiziddin Qahhorzoda and World Bank Group Country Manager for Tajikistan Gael Raballand. The project includes, among other things, the construction of a 500 kV power transmission line from the Dushanbe-500 substation to the Regar-500 substation and the expansion of these substations, the statement added.
