New Delhi, Feb 14 (UNI) Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday paid homage to the victims of the 2019 Pulwama terror attack, saying their supreme sacrifice will forever remain etched in the nation’s memory.
In a message posted on X, Kharge wrote, “We pay our deepest homage to the brave martyrs of Bharat Mata, who laid down their lives in Pulwama. Their indomitable courage and unflinching devotion to the nation will forever be etched in our collective memory. Their supreme sacrifice remains eternal. We shall never forget.”
The February 14, 2019, attack in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir claimed the lives of 40 personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force when a suicide bomber rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into their convoy. The attack was among the deadliest on Indian security forces in the region and sparked nationwide mourning and condemnation.
Since then, February 14 has been observed across the country as a day of remembrance, with leaders cutting across party lines paying tribute to the fallen personnel.
Kharge’s message emphasised the enduring legacy of the brave heroes, describing their courage as “indomitable” and their devotion to the nation as “unflinching.”
Memorial ceremonies and wreath-laying events were held in various parts of the country, as citizens paused to honour the sacrifice of those who lost their lives in the line of duty.
Seven years after the attack, the Pulwama martyrs continue to symbolise courage, service, and the ultimate sacrifice in defence of the nation.
