MP Police seize illegal liquor

Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh Police have adopted a policy of “zero tolerance” against illicit liquor as part of efforts to strengthen law and order and promote a drug-free society across the State. Over the past seven days, coordinated action in several districts has led to the seizure of illegal liquor and vehicles worth more than Rs 83 lakh.

In Jhabua, under “Operation Prahar”, police intercepted a truck carrying 293 cartons of Indian-made foreign liquor, estimated to be worth approximately Rs 55.40 lakh. The consignment was seized and further investigation is under way.

In Morena district, Bamore police arrested two individuals for liquor smuggling and confiscated 35 cartons of illicit liquor along with a car. The total value of the seized material is estimated at Rs 9.60 lakh.

Ashoknagar police raided an illegal country liquor manufacturing unit and seized 500 litres of liquor and related materials worth Rs 8.75 lakh. In a separate operation, liquor worth Rs 8,250 was also confiscated.

In Indore (Rural), Depalpur police seized 40 cartons of beer and a car, with the total value of the seizure pegged at Rs 6.44 lakh.

Similarly, in Gwalior, Purani Chhawani police confiscated 19 cartons of illicit liquor valued at Rs 1 lakh along with a vehicle.

Katni police arrested an accused and seized liquor worth Rs 35,000 and an electric scooter, while in Datia, Kotwali and Pandokhar police seized illegal liquor worth Rs 55,000 and Rs 32,000 respectively.

In Jabalpur, police seized country-made and foreign liquor along with a vehicle, with the total value of the recovery estimated at Rs 1.02 lakh.
