Bengaluru, Feb 9 (UNI) Fast bowler Harshit Rana, who was ruled out of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 due to injury, brought a wave of relief for Indian cricket fans on Sunday after announcing that his surgery has been successful.
Harshit shared a photograph from the hospital on social media, flashing a smile and updating fans on his condition. The young pacer said his focus is now firmly on two missions — a speedy recovery and a return to Team India. His positive update has eased concerns within the Indian camp, with the team management hopeful of his early comeback to competitive cricket.
Considered one of India’s most promising fast bowlers, Harshit has been a regular presence around the national setup over the past two years and is widely regarded as a star of the future. However, misfortune struck just a day before the start of the mega event, when he suffered a knee injury that ruled him out of the tournament.
The injury occurred during a practice match against South Africa ahead of the T20 World Cup. While bowling, Harshit experienced discomfort in his knee, which worsened rapidly. He managed to bowl only one over and struggled twice during his run-up before leaving the field, holding his knee in visible pain. Subsequent medical assessments confirmed that he would be unable to take part in the tournament.
Following his withdrawal, experienced fast bowler Mohammed Siraj was named as his replacement in the Indian squad. Siraj made an immediate impact, delivering an impressive performance in the opening match against the United States, where he picked up three wickets and played a crucial role in India’s 29-run victory.
Harshit’s successful surgery has now lifted the mood within the Indian camp, with hopes that the young pacer will soon be back on the field, continuing his journey as one of India’s key fast-bowling prospects.
