Delhi speaker stresses service-centric leadership at Jain Panch Kalyanak Mahotsav

New Delhi, Feb 8 (UNI) Delhi Legislative Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta on Sunday said that power and position are meaningful only when anchored in service and compassion, while addressing a large spiritual gathering at the Panch Kalyanak Pratishtha Mahotsav held at Jain Teerth Veeroday Nirman Vihar in the national capital.

Gupta attended the event as the chief guest. The programme marked the Pran Pratishtha of the first Vishwakarma Tirthankara, Lord Rishabhdev, and was organised under the spiritual guidance of national saint and yogi Guptisagar.

Addressing devotees, the Speaker said the Panch Kalyanak Mahamahotsav was not merely a religious ceremony but a path towards spiritual peace and self-reflection. He described Lord Rishabhdev, also known as Adinath, as the torchbearer of civilisation who introduced the values of labour, discipline and duty to humanity.

“Lord Rishabhdev’s teachings continue to hold deep relevance in modern life. Through this Pran Pratishtha, eternal values are being revived. The Jain community has consistently contributed to nation-building through its commitment to simplicity, non-violence and ethical conduct,” Gupta said.

Linking spirituality with public life, the Speaker highlighted the importance of people-centric governance, stating that leadership and administration must focus on the welfare of the most vulnerable sections of society. He said the festival served as a reminder that authority must be exercised with compassion and responsibility.

Gupta also praised the Panch Kalyanak Pratishtha Mahotsav Samiti for organising the event, noting that such initiatives strengthen the cultural and spiritual fabric of the national capital.

Emphasising the universal message of Jainism, the Speaker urged citizens to adopt the principle of “live and let live” and work towards building a harmonious society based on love, mutual respect and coexistence.
