New Delhi, Feb 6 (UNI) Delhi became the first state in the country to formally partner with Bharat Taxi’s cooperative mobility platform, with the Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC) signing an MoU with Sahkar Taxi Cooperative Limited (STCL) to introduce technology-enabled service in the national Capital.
The MoU was signed at the Delhi Secretariat on Friday in the presence of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Tourism Minister and Chairman, DTTDC, Kapil Mishra.
Senior officials present included Managing Director, DTTDC, Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, and General Manager, DTTDC, D. Karthikeyan.
STCL was represented by Vice Chairman Rohit Gupta, IRTS, Chief Executive Officer Himanshu, and Arushi Kaul, Executive Operations and Community Engagement.
Officials said the partnership aims to provide organised taxi services for residents and tourists while addressing issues related to service quality, pricing transparency and driver earnings.
Under the agreement, DTTDC will act as the tourism and branding partner, and drivers will be trained in soft skills and familiarised with Delhi’s culture, history and heritage.
Bharat Taxi, through STCL, will operate mobility services using its digital platform and cooperative driver network.
As part of the collaboration, taxi-based sightseeing packages of two hours, four hours and full-day duration will be introduced, covering major attractions in and around Delhi. Point-to-point city travel services will also be offered to improve last-mile connectivity.
Officials said bookings will be technology-enabled with standardised service protocols and transparent pricing.
The initiative also focuses on driver welfare through a cooperative ownership model under which drivers retain a higher share of earnings and become stakeholders in the cooperative.
According to the Delhi government, the partnership is expected to support tourism infrastructure, improve urban mobility and bring greater accountability to taxi operations in the city.
